My lids are propped by toothpicks due to a bumpy red-eye flight into Guatemala this morning. I sit in a dark corner of the Holiday Inn of Guatemala City and try to gather my barrings as I wait for my room. While my body is fighting me, I want to run into the street and do some exploring. I expect great things. The dawn views from my window-seat included the pluming of an active volcano just outside of Guatemala City. I am taking it as a sign of welcome. Much more to come about how to travel Guatemala in the coming days

Hi Jaime,
I will be at CATM in a few days. Maybe we can get together. I am not sure where I will be staying yet. Where are you in Antigua?

Awesome photos! It looks like you were on the verge of a stunning sunrise as well.
Hey JoAnna,
The sunrise did verge but then the plan turned just enough that I couldn’t get any really good colors.
Cool photos. I like taking pictures from above as well. Something to do on boring flights and the results are often very interesting.
Thanks Sophie,
I am a fan of using a camera out of moving vehicles. Definitely hit and miss.
