Without a doubt, my favorite photos, from any trip, is always of the local people. After my recent trip to CATM 2010 in Antigua, Guatemala, I came home with the difficult decision of which photos to share. At some point, it becomes a guessing game (due to my lack of the learned photographic eye) as to what photos are “best.” But until a expert rolls along here are my current favorites from Guatemala, including Antigua, Guatemala City, Tikal and numerous stops along the way. Hope you enjoy my photos enough to inspire your own trip to Central America,

looking forward to reading about your time here.

Hey Jamie,
You couldn’t be more right. I have been going through notes this weeks and then plan to lock myself in a room to write it all out.
Great photos and thank you for highlighting the wonderful people of Guatemala! Guatemala is one of my favorite countries, in large part because the people are so fantastic. We were once shopping and kept visiting the same shop several times and got to know the shop keeper. When it came time to make a big purchase, she needed to go to another store that had a credit card machine and left her 4 year old daughter in her care. We exchanged Spanish/English lessons with her and that is still one of my favorite travel memories, even though it happened 6 years ago.
Hi Laurel,
I know what you mean. It is always the little interactions I have with people that stay with me over time — although Tikal was pretty memorable too.

Great photos, Devin! Photos of the local people are also my favorite. You did a good job of capturing the people, and it sounds like you really enjoyed Guatemala. This country is high on my list of places to go.
Hi Christy,
Thanks for the compliment. I really liked the parts of Guatemala that I saw, The trip itself was a bit of a whirlwind (beyond Antigua) and some of the organization could have been better, but all in all I would recommend it. And yes, there is a lot to photograph.
