Traveling in Turkey

Pamukkale Turkey - 08

Great Places in Turkey

Having been to Turkey several times I can highly recommend it as a first rate holiday destination offering good accommodation and mouth watering local dishes. So go now for a cheap holiday to Turkey. Explore its fascinating scenery that you don’t want to miss. Anyone looking for a holiday with a difference should certainly consider this country because of its beautiful beaches, stunning scenery and archaeological treasures. You’ll never be short of something to see and do. Whether you plump for the Turquoise Coast, the Aegean, the Mediterranean Coast or the breathtaking city of Istanbul, Turkey can’t fail to please.

Saklikent George

One of my best experiences was visiting the Saklikent Gorge near Fethiye on the Turquoise Coast. This impressive gorge runs for 18km and reaches a depth of 300 metres. There is a 4km stretch that you can walk through and the rock formations will astonish. You begin your trek by wading through ice cold water, with the help of local boys if needed, and continue through the Gorge at your own pace and the whole place has to be experienced to be believed. There is a cafe on site for refreshments.

Pamukkale

Pamukkale Turkey - 41aPamukkale National Park is a World Heritage Site where you will find hot springs, mineral forests, petrified waterfalls and the famous white calcium ‘travertine’. You will certainly be able to spend a day there. Few small hotels are also available nearby for those wishing to stay longer.

Mediterranean Coast

Antalya on the Mediterranean Coast is a beautiful harbur town with everything the tourist needs. here you’ll find lovely beaches, stunning architecture, an Old Town, and no shortage of hotels, shops, bars and night life. Nearby are yet more wonders to discover.

Aspendos

Just 29 miles east of Antalya is the best preserved Roman Theatre in Turkey. This spectacular amphitheatre still hosts performances today and is well worth a visit. Close by there are other intersesting places including the historic sites at Olimpos, Selge and Aspendos and the Koprulu Kanyon National Park where those looking for activity holidays will be able to go river rafting.

Marmaris

This is another great destination with all the usual tourist attractions plus the 16th Century Castle of Suleman and plenty of opportunities to take a Horse Ride through local pine forests, or a Jeep Safari into the less travelled regions. I can truly recommend the latter, having enjoyed the experience myself.
